In Memory of Christi Stanley

September 8, 1954 - January 21, 2013

Christi StanleyChristi Stanley, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, daughter, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 21, 2013. She was born on September 8, 1954, in Fort Worth, where she grew up and lived her entire life.

Christi married the love of her life Jim Stanley, on February 14, 1987, after a long and loving courtship. Since 1979, Christi and Jim ran their law office together. Christi touched countless lives along her journey through her work at the office, volunteering, and loving anyone who came across her path. She raised funds and awareness for illnesses that touched those in her life, twice walking the Avon 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk and three times supporting her daughter through the MS 150 Bike Ride for multiple sclerosis. More than anything Christi selflessly loved her husband Jim, her children, and grandchildren.

Christi was a person of many talents, including restoration of historic properties and home and garden design and decorating. She planned and directed the two-year restoration, preservation, and saving of the historic Walker Reeves’ home. She received awards and acclamations from the Fairmont Association, the Greater Fort Worth Board of Realtors, Inc., and the National Historic Registry. Christi also renovated, restored and saved the Gosho Industries property, also known as the Japanese Cotton Embassy. Christi donated the use of the properties on occasion for weddings, historical tours, and charitable events.

Christi was the driving force behind of the Law Office of James M. Stanley and served in the position of Office Manager, in which she directed a large staff of attorneys, paralegals and office staff for over thirty years.

Christi was an avid University of Alabama football fan, having the pleasure of personally attending and watching Alabama win three National Championships. Christi also loved the Dallas Mavericks and was fortunate enough to see them win the NBA Championship. Christi loved to travel with her husband Jim on trans-oceanic cruises on the Queen Mary II and Queen Victoria.

During her illness, Christi was an exemplar for her courage, strength, determination, optimism and unwavering faith in God as she faced great pain, struggle, and hardship. She was truly God’s gift to this world and to all those touched by her. She will be missed greatly by those on earth and well received by those in heaven.

Christi is preceded in death by her mother Beverly Luker and her grandmother Ruby Trauber.

Christi is survived by her husband James Stanley of Fort Worth; her daughter Amber Mostyn of Houston, Amber’s husband Steve, and their children Mitchell & Ava; her son Jason Anderson of Lockhart, his wife Jenn and children Brennan, Pamela, Paul, Myka, & Brooke; her daughter Mary Katherine Stanley Guerin of Macon, Georgia, her husband Chase and their children Penelope & Leo Guerin. Christi is also survived by her father, Boyd Wren & wife Ruby, her sister Vicki Adams & husband Jerry, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Thompson’s Harveson and Cole Funeral Home, 702 8th Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 25th at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2401 College Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas. A graveside burial service will occur at Greenwood Cemetery, 3100 White Settlement Road in Fort Worth with a reception to follow at Bob’s Chop House at the Omni Hotel, 1300 Houston Street, Fort Worth.

The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the “Leukemia and Lymphoma Society” www.lls.org or “Be the Match” www.Marrow.Org. Condolences may be sent to 2200 Hemphill Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76110 or left on Christi Stanley’s online guestbook at www.thompsonfunerals.com.
